SCS SB 727 & 703 -- Tinted Windows
Co-Sponsors: Yeckel, Caskey
This substitute permits the use of sun screening material with a
light transmission of 35% or more, plus or minus 3%, and a
luminous reflectance of 35% or less, plus or minus 3%, on front
windows and sidewing vents located to the left and right of motor
vehicles registered in Missouri. The Department of Public Safety
may issue a permit to any person to operate a vehicle with sun
screening with less light transmission and more luminous
reflectance if the person has a serious medical condition and the
sun screening is prescribed by a physician.
The substitute does not prohibit the use of labels, stickers,
decalcomania, or informational signs on motor vehicles; the
application of tinting or solar screening material on
recreational vehicles; or factory-installed tinted glass.
The substitute also removes any restrictions on tinting of
rear-side windows and rear windows. The degree of sun tinting on
vehicle windows will no longer be a part of motor vehicle
inspections.
The substitute has an emergency clause.
